Finding inner peace through an intuitive and accessible interface.
Product Design at People Inc.
2021 — 2022.
As a Senior Lead Product Designer at what was then-called Meredith Corporation, I took over the design of MyLife, a meditation and wellness mobile app. The biggest initiative of my time on this app was a full redesign to tackle the many glaring issues from the previous iteration, notably addressing 100+ accessibility failures in addition to general usability errors and the lack of a cohesive visual design.
In 2022, when Meredith Corporation was acquired by Dotdash, the new owners shut down the app to focus on their web portfolio. I still value the time spent working on this app, and I'm proud of the results we achieved in my time there, including WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
MyLife offered mindfulness and meditation practices, including daily check-ins and long-term series for improved mental health.
Our UI updates were wide-ranging with the 2.0 redesign, not just improving the brand but also addressing the plethora of accessibility failures in flows like the daily check-in.
A new accessible color palette and a redesign to various components including the navigation improved the usability of the app, as validated in usability tests.
The old Journeys design (L) compared to the redone and renamed "Series", offering legible text, descriptions, and buttons that communicate your progress.
The daily check-in led users through a quick meditation and mindfulness check, before generating a list of suitable activities.
The series flow took users through daily sessions of guided meditation.
